As I took a window shop, my eyes captured right at the crowd of the movie freak corner. It’s pretty easy on the pocket to look for one, since there’s a movie which extremely I wanted to see. The stunning smile actor, of course had an effect to strike meJ. But the spotlight was more than that. Each scene made me thrilling inside out. I just hardly overlooked the brainstorm.
It was… Remember Me
What a wishful thinking title! Don’t you guys feel the rush of gloomy and tenderness…? Mellow dramatic anecdotes with the intense concern of virtue and stylish slapstick always got me. Hypersensitive, yeah it’s all in me! I am a lovely Virgo, what do you expect…? ( ^ - * )
NYC was the surroundings. Different with the other fancy and deluxe movies, Remember Me was quite unfettered, simple and frank. Of course, there’s a dazzling love story, but I’m not gonna note down particularly about that. REMEMBER ME depicted much about the multifarious stories of one young man. Exclusively was pointed from his eyesight. It was directed by Allen Coulter and written by Will Feters. Robert Pattinson also enrolled as one of the executive producers.
The leading man was gorgeous but mutinous and introvert, namely Tyler Hawkins (Robert Pattinson). He’s on the early twenty with lot of passions to write his exceptional perspective and restlessness. He was strongly stimulated by the philosophy of the majestic figures like; Gandhi, Mozart, Buddy Holly and Michael (his old brother who had died). Those people had found the essence of their lives and made great breakthroughs at the same age as Tyler.
Michael once ever said to him; “our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we touch.” Tyler could only question in to his journal coz no one could value him exactly as Michael did; ‘is that true for everybody? Or was that just poetic bullshit?’ Tyler grew to be fairly skeptical as he perceived the cold outside world. By his frail faith he faced the random fate.
At the age 21, Michael committed suicide after having conflict with his compelling father, Charles Hawkins (Pierce Brosnan). There’s a friction in the relationship between Tyler and his self-centered father ever since. Tyler liked to spend his time after class, working at the book store with his friend, Aidan (Tate Ellington), than being employed in his father big office. He lived his life so laid back, sharing a dusty room with Aidan, no care about the others’ opinion who got him wrong, smoking-addict and writing on his scruffy journal in a downtown coffee shop (remind me of J.K. Rowling who used to carve her “genius Harry Potter escapades”). The most imposing of all was Tyler rode his old racing bikeJ. Gentleman out there, you should try out his peculiar unpretentious…!
Despite all of his oddness, Tyler never afraid of being involved to what he believed in. Extremely he would stand for it. One night at the alley with his friends, the noise of someone calling ‘Michael’ was rousing Tyler. Sound like an alarm in his head. Suddenly, the car almost hit two men who were just passing the street right before his eyes. The two men got heated, but the other outnumbered gangster come out from the car and attacked them madly. Tyler impulsively drew himself in to the clash for defending two victims. It was getting worse… Unlikely, Aidan’s helping him just before other man punched his back off.
The disturbance still went on after the Cops warded off. Tyler and Aidan were released for being the witness who had just tried to stop the fight. The senior cop (Chris Cooper) arrested the hostile parties (including the two victims), but Tyler prevented him. Aidan tried to stop, but Tyler remained to convince the cop harshly, if the two men were blameless. The cop gave no respect on what he said. It provoked Tyler to do things hastily. The cop brought him in jail after all.
Aidan just couldn’t understand what his friend did. Tyler looked thoughtless about the bright future and people around him. He took much easily being jailed, but Aidan furtively called Tyler’s father to pay him a good lawyer. Tyler wasn’t relieved at all. He had a prime dignity, definitely not a demanding and feeble son. He rushed to his father office (with black-and-blue face, but still fascinating to seeJ) and gave explanation. But his father blamed him conceitedly. Before leaving, he asked the invoice from Janine (Kate Burton), his father’s assistance. Janine was the honest and congenial woman. She had sense of empathy about Tyler.
Besides his memorable old brother, Tyler had a little sister in 6th grade, Caroline Hawkins (Ruby Jerins). She lived with the mother, Diane Hirsch (Lena Olin) and an attentive step father, Les Hirsch (Gregory Jbara). Her purity and compassion always consoled Tyler. Caroline was great at sketching and made Tyler as her huge inspiration. Tyler called her ‘maestro’. Just the opposite of the girls at the school who regarded Caroline as a freak of nature. They always laughed at Caroline for her unique and serenity. Tyler was a thoughtful big brother and Caroline’s best friend. Both were having an uptight relationship with their frenzied father. Caroline revealed her anxiousness to Tyler, if his father didn’t love her cause he won’t spend time and used to cut off whenever she’s talking her favorites. Tyler encouraged his sister, though he kept that so deep inside. They had an inspiring bond! It’s rarely to see, nonetheless just from the movie. If only I had that typical big brother to ward me that time….L
Knowing that the cop got a daughter, motivated Aidan to make payback with Tyler as the appealing actor. Tyler didn’t mean to execute Aidan’s silly game until he found it’s hard to defy the charm of Ally (Emilie De Ravin). Tyler wanted to get to know and neither did Ally (Kind typical as The Twilight Saga, the stunning smile actor used to have special relationship with the chief’s daughter). The new couple had hilarious dinner and spent other delightful times together. You need to see by your self, how fantastic their “rendezvous”! ( ^ - * )
About Ally, she also had heartrending remembrance since she was as Caroline’s years. Ally witnessed her mother who had been shot at the subway by the juvenile pickpocket gangster. Ally never took the train after that. The cop, Ally’s father became protective about her. He got infuriated after seeing Ally back home at the other day with no permission. Ally objected her father and moved out to Tyler room.
Ally was easily sociable to people next to Tyler; Aidan, Caroline, and the rest Tyler’s family (including his father, Charles Hawkins). Tyler lastly realized if Ally’s life wasn’t wonderful, she looked so alive and affectionate anyhow. Tyler sensed something unusual about her. A new slice of momentous life already came on his 22 maturity.
The climax conflicts were running. Tyler got furious to see his father didn’t come to the gallery, while Caroline’s having her sketching exhibition. Caroline was upset to find out that her father was never care about her at all. Tyler interrupted at her father meeting. Furiously, complained all of his hidden dissatisfactions all this time. The father and son blamed each other without contented conclusion. Thankfully, Ally was there. The unusual feeling was growing, lessening Tyler’s restlessness. Unfortunately, the cop got Tyler from one of his investigator. He almost hit and choked up Tyler to death. Tyler confessed to Ally about his brainless old mischief to get close with her. It’s frustrated Ally. A lot!
A piece in Tyler heart was missing. But Tyler won’t speak up to no one. Aidan got that. He was sorry and tried to put it right.
Meanwhile…, Tyler encouraged Caroline to come to one of her girl friends birthday party. Sadly, it ended up ghastly. The mean little girls cut one side of Caroline’s hair just to make fun of her. Tyler read a tale, trying to relieve Caroline. At the same time, Aidan brought Ally to Tyler’s mother house. She intended to see Caroline, then, talked to Tyler.
Next day, Tyler took Caroline to school and accompanied his sister at her desk. Caroline looked insecure; the other girls still chuckled and mocked her new hair cut. Spontaneously, Tyler kicked out a row for giving a lesson for those unpleasant girls and the apathetic teacher. Everyone got shaken up of Tyler fatal rage. Caroline smiled gently, it was even for her.
Repeating history, Tyler was put into jail for his unintended vandalism at Caroline classroom. His father bailed him out. But this time, his father could comprehend why he acted that way. Tyler didn’t take for granted his father’s consideration.
The other things practically went right. His relationship with Ally was getting much recovered, likewise with his father. Seeing that his father eventually showed up his compassion to Caroline, was soothing Tyler. His father even arranged unusual things and asked Tyler to meet him at the office. Those other slices of his momentous life might have been fulfilled.
As Tyler’s waiting in his father desk, the curiosity dragged him to turn the screensaver on. Tyler was composed while looking intently to each picture. All about his family. From the day he and Caroline were much younger and cheerful. Their smiling mother and memory of Michael. Tyler finally could sense how much his father loved him and rest of family. The unspoken but true compassionate love completed his life. Janine came in and saw the amicable young man.
Tyler stood still before the office window… He was gazing away… Contemplating… Meanwhile, the outside circumstance was crowded… earsplitting… Changeable…
He and Janine were inside of the huge constructions. One of the twin towers with thousand naive people who might have just treasured their previous days.
On the next scene, the teacher admonished Caroline to stop sketching and pay attention to the class. Date on the board was… Tuesday in September 11, 2001L
What a revelation! I never thought about that ending. There was no right sign from the beginning if the time was related before the bombed tragedy, except the news of President Bush policy. It was quite upsetting finale, however Tyler breathed his last breath contentedly. He had already finished his journal with the outstanding conclusion.
Gandhi’s statement was no longer fretting his mind. “Whatever you do in life will be insignificant. But it’s very important that you do it. Because nobody else will.”
Tyler deeply agreed with that; “Like when someone came into your life. And half of you says…, ‘you’re nowhere near ready,’ but the other half says, ‘make her yours forever…’”
“God, I miss you… And I forgive you…” Tyler’s restlessness was healed. Neither does everyone around who grieved for him.
Remember Me moved me. Abso-freakin-lutely!!! I used to refuse others who might have different perspectives. Somewhat, I start to feel if they might conceal the same affections and wishes as mine. I just couldn’t take it those days…. And the days, which I was disrespecting circumstances and implications I met everyday, especially when they looked insignificant and revolting. Each troubled past highly affected me to be a skeptical weird. Many times I acted thoughtless and broke the hearts of people around. I never intended that way. I wish it’s not late to apologize my yesterday and this day… Guilty feelings draw me. Still I’m trying to fix things that I can. Keeping all of great reminiscences, even some of the inspiring people were out of my life. Wishfully, I will gain every new slice of momentous life as I’m moving on the capricious days… “God, would you miss me…? And would you forgive me…?”
